Music
Music transforms, creates, and inspires. Through music, it is possible to express feelings that are often impossible to express with words. Therefore, the musicalization project is present in the Association, from the youngest children to the oldest. For children and teenagers who stand out, there is the possibility of joining the Guaçatom musical group. But what does this mean?
The Guaçatom Group, a musical project by the NGO “Criança Feliz” Philanthropic Association, is made up of children and young people from the community of Caucaia do Alto (Cotia/SP).
The project maintains the AFCF principles established at its creation in 1985 with developments and actions that have benefited society, promoting the musical culture of childhood, the richness of Brazilian popular music, contemplating multiculturalism, through presentations and musical workshops in public and private spaces (educational and cultural institutions, theaters, squares) in the country and abroad: France/Italy (2002), Republic of China (2003), Italy/Switzerland (2012), Italy, Switzerland, Spain (2015) Italy (2016).
With the project, the Association won the Aldir Blanc Award (Notice 01/2020), Itaú Unicef/Escola Integral Award (Semifinalist 2018 and Regional Finalist 2017).
Guaçatom has recorded 2 CDs (2000, 2010) and in 2022 will complete the 3rd album with works by Pixinguinha, Moacir Santos, Jackson do Pandeiro among other renowned composers. To celebrate 27 years of resistance in the area of culture and social issues, the Philanthropic Association "Criança Feliz" released the documentary "Guaçatom Além do Território".
Handicrafts
Crafts have a certain magical aspect when something imagined is transformed into a concrete product. For this creative metamorphosis, several techniques and different materials can be used, and two or more techniques can also be combined in the same piece.
The different possibilities provide a set of
learning capable of offering challenges and awakening curiosity, creative and manual skills work the magic of transformation!
Cooking
As our focus is to cooperate with the personal development of the community, bringing them into another part of life, which is cooking, has become important in terms of the development of daily activities. In this way, children and adolescents can have contact with different foods and learn about their functionalities in the world of gastronomy.

With this in mind, our activity schedule has periods for educators to develop guided games as well as moments for them to choose the games.

The teachers always set aside time to check whether the children/teenagers have homework. Whenever possible, the lessons are completed or at least started during the period of stay at the Youth Center. During these activities, the teachers assist with the activities, also collaborating in the literacy process of the children.
